Kukkiwon honours Grand Masters Hassan Iskandar OAM and Greg Wyllie at 9th Dan presentation
Grand Master Hassan Iskandar and Grand Master Greg Wyllie attained their Taekwondo 9th Dan following a successful final grading at Kukkiwon in Seoul, South Korea, on 17 September 2025. On 13 March 2026, they returned to Kukkiwon to receive their 9th Dan certificates and plaques.
This prestigious recognition reflects a lifetime of dedication, leadership and service to Taekwondo. A 9th Dan awarded by Kukkiwon is one of the highest honours in the martial art, recognising both exceptional mastery and a significant contribution to its development.
Grand Master Greg Wyllie has made an exceptional contribution to Taekwondo in Australia over more than five decades. As an instructor, mentor and leader, he has helped shape generations of students and broaden the reach of the martial art through his longstanding teaching and guidance. As founder of Wyllie Martial Arts in 1985, he has built one of Sydney’s most recognised Taekwondo academies. One of his significant achievements has been leading the introduction of Taekwondo into physical education programs in schools across Sydney’s North Shore, contributing to the development of the schools’ students and the growth of Taekwondo in the area.
Grand Master Hassan Iskandar OAM has made an exceptional contribution to Taekwondo in Australia and internationally over more than five decades. As an instructor, mentor, administrator and leader, he has played an important role in developing athletes, officials and the wider Taekwondo community. His distinguished service includes national and international appointments, including serving as President of Australian Taekwondo and becoming the first Australian in 50 years to be elected to the World Taekwondo Council. Through these roles, he has helped raise the profile of Australian Taekwondo and strengthen the martial art at both national and international levels.
Together, Grand Master Iskandar and Grand Master Wyllie have made outstanding contributions to Taekwondo in Australia and internationally through many years of teaching, mentoring and leadership. In addition to their many achievements, they remain committed to supporting the next generation of senior practitioners and are generous in sharing their experience with aspiring high Dan candidates on the path to becoming Grand Masters.
